Watch Toy Story on the big screen in a recently refurbished cinema, then join a university-style workshop in childhood studies, animation, media or creative writing. Explore gender representation, reimagine a toy as a Pixar character, or create stories for familiar characters.

Join the University of Sunderland for a day celebrating Toy Story, exploring the film’s impact and meaning through a university-style taster event. Students will watch the film on the big screen in the recently refurbished cinema before taking part in an interactive workshop linked to their chosen area of interest.

The event is designed for Year 12 and Year 13 students, or anyone considering studying creative writing, media, animation or childhood studies. It offers a chance to experience a subject-focused day at university, meet other prospective students and get a feel for how these subjects are explored at degree level.

There are themed workshop options across childhood studies, animation and media, and creative writing. Activities include examining gender representation in Toy Story, reimagining a toy as a new Pixar character, and creating stories for familiar characters from the film.
