Explore rare books, archives and wool samples at a special open day tracing sheep farming’s place in Welsh life. Hear a talk by a National Wool Museum curator and graduate, then discover how wool is used across industries today.
University of Wales Trinity Saint David is hosting a special open day to mark Wool Month, giving visitors the chance to explore the history of sheep farming and the continuing importance of wool in Wales. The event brings together heritage, archives and live discussion to show how wool has shaped Welsh life over time.
The programme includes a talk, A Short History of Sheep in Wales, by Debby Mercer, a UWTSD graduate, sheep owner and Senior Curator at the National Wool Museum. Visitors will also be able to see rare books and archival materials from the university’s Special Collections, as well as historical wool-related tracts, photographs, sheepdog trial images and samples of raw and processed wool.
The event also looks at how wool is used across a range of industries today and why it remains relevant.
