Join an interactive panel exploring how fairness can be defined, measured and advanced in Britain. Hear different perspectives, then share your thoughts in small-group discussion.

Join the University of York for an interactive panel discussion inspired by Will Snell’s book, The Fair Necessities: Why We Need a Fairer Britain and How to Make It Happen. The event is part of the Festival of Social Science and is organised in collaboration with the Fairness Foundation and the Campaign for Social Science.

The discussion will explore key questions around fairness in Britain, including how fairness can be defined and measured, why it matters, and what can be done to make the country fairer. The panel will share different perspectives, and audience members will also have the chance to contribute their thoughts in small-group discussion.

The event will be chaired by Professor Karen Rowlingson, with panel speakers Will Snell, Kit Colliver and Jed Meers. It is an in-person event at Priory Street Centre in York, and is open to alumni, staff, students and the wider public.
