Curious about the forces that power the universe? Join the University of York Nuclear Masterclass to explore nuclear physics through live webinars, hands-on activities and supported problem solving on Isaac Physics — build skills, connect with experts and boost your uni/career prospects.

The University of York Nuclear Masterclass is an online physics programme combining live webinars, interactive activities and an online question forum. It is designed to help students explore nuclear physics through guided learning, discussion and supported problem solving, with questions set through the Isaac Physics platform.

The masterclass is offered in separate pre-16 and post-16 versions. The pre-16 course covers the building blocks of the universe, radiation, fission and fusion, and medical physics. The post-16 course develops these themes further through energy and decay, experimental nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, fusion technology, medical physics, and particle physics meets nuclear physics.

It is recommended for students aged 14-19 studying physics, and teachers can also register to access the resources, track student progress, and use the materials independently in class or for CPD. The programme runs annually around Easter, with the next edition planned for spring 2027.
