Dukes Plus Vet Summer School

Dukes Plus Vet Summer School is an immersive summer experience for students interested in veterinary medicine. Based at UCL in London, it gives participants a chance to explore what a veterinary career is really like while studying in a university setting and learning from experienced vets.

Students take part in hands-on activities such as consulting with real pet owners, carrying out clinical examinations, diagnosing and treating simulated patients, and practising animal surgery under expert guidance. The programme also includes visits to a working farm, equine centre, veterinary hospital and tropical animal facility, helping students understand the breadth of work involved in veterinary practice.

Alongside the practical experience, the summer school offers more than 25 hours of academic teaching each week, plus career coaching on university choices and routes into the industry. Participants can also work towards a recognised Level 3 Qualification in work experience, worth 8 UCAS points, and receive a formal certificate of achievement.
