Get hands-on experience in a constituency MP’s office, helping with casework, researching issues and writing press releases. You could also accompany the MP to a meeting or event in the House or constituency, or answer constituents’ queries by phone or email.
Victoria Atkins offers work experience opportunities to students from her constituency. The placement is designed to give young people an insight into local politics and to help them build practical skills through hands-on office-based experience.
Students may be asked to help with a range of tasks, depending on their age and ability. These can include casework, researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, accompanying the MP to a meeting or event in the House or in the constituency, assisting with office duties, and answering queries from constituents by phone or email.
If you are interested, you should contact the office to enquire about a placement.
