West Sussex Mind is recruiting three to four volunteer trustees to join its Board to help set direction, hold the charity to account and support delivery of its strategic goals across West Sussex. This is a voluntary role (expenses reimbursed) with an initial three-year term.
Board and sub-committee meetings take place bi-monthly and are held remotely and in person at The Gateway, Worthing. The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. As a trustee you will work collaboratively with other Board members to support governance, strategy and service delivery.
New trustees receive a structured induction, a buddy from the current Board, access to an online learning library, a trustee handbook, and regular reviews at three months, six months and annually. West Sussex Mind welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and is particularly interested in people with experience in equality, diversity & inclusion (including anti-racism practice), those with lived experience of mental health problems, mental health / social care professionals, and finance / accountancy skills.
No prior trustee experience is required.

- No previous trustee experience necessary; applicants should be self-motivated and willing to learn
- Applicants with lived experience of mental health problems are especially encouraged
- Priority encouragement for disabled candidates, Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, women and those from the LGBTQ+ community (under-represented on the Board)
Volunteer role; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
