Volunteer with a community-based football academy in Teshie Nungua, Accra, where you support local coaches with training sessions, drills, fitness activities, and match-day organisation. The role is hands-on and practical: you may help run practices, referee or organise games, manage kits and equipment, and mentor young players on teamwork, discipline, confidence, and goal-setting.
Placements run for 2 to 12 weeks, with new starts available every week. Volunteers stay in a shared Volunteer House in Teshie Nungua, with breakfast and dinner provided, airport pick-up and drop-off included, and 24-hour in-country support available.
The programme is designed for people who want real coaching experience and a chance to contribute to a local sports project rather than a classroom-based placement. This opportunity is open from age 17 and does not require a formal coaching qualification, although a genuine interest in football is essential.
Because the project involves regular contact with children, applicants must provide a recent clean background check and arrange their own travel and medical insurance.

£680
From £680 for 2 weeks, with prices increasing by duration. The fee includes the booking deposit, airport pick-up and drop-off, accommodation in a Volunteer House, breakfast and dinner, pre-departure information, welcome meeting, orientation, and 24-hour in-country support. Travel and medical insurance is available at extra cost. Flights, visas, vaccinations, daily travel to the project, public transport, extra transfers, and personal expenses are not included. A certificate of participation is available on request.
