This is a community-driven turtle and environment conservation volunteering project on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Volunteers support sea turtle nesting beach habitat conservation through patrols, nest protection, data collection, beach clean-ups, and, when needed, nest relocation and hatchling support.
The project also contributes to local conservation research and environmental education. Alongside field conservation, volunteers help with community engagement activities such as English lessons, school presentations, plastic classification, tree planting, and awareness-raising around sustainable practices.
The role is hands-on and outdoors-based, with work that can be physically demanding and may involve early morning or night patrols, depending on the schedule. The placement is based at a rustic camp with shared dorm-style accommodation, basic solar power, Wi-Fi, clean drinking water, and communal facilities.
All meals are included and are mostly vegetarian. Volunteers join flexible weekly start dates, stay from one to eight weeks, and are expected to be adaptable, energetic, and committed to making a meaningful contribution to conservation and the local community.

- Volunteers must be 18 years or older at the time of joining the project.
- Participants must have an open mind and a flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment.
- Participants must be fit and healthy and prepared for physically demanding outdoor work.
- Participants should have a keen interest and love for environmental conservation work.
- Participants must have no criminal convictions and provide a clean criminal background check report.
- Participants should be responsible, flexible, patient and proactive.
- Participants should have enthusiasm to learn, work hard, and contribute without constant supervision.
- Basic to intermediate Spanish is necessary for all programs.
- A valid travel medical insurance is mandatory for all participants.
Volunteers receive accommodation in shared dorm-style cabins at the camp, all meals at the camp, an orientation, in-country support, and a certificate of participation on request.
$735
Program fees start from US$735 for 1 week and rise with longer stays. A one-off application fee of US$249 is charged in addition to the program fee and is valid for one year, allowing applicants to enrol in multiple programs during that period. The fee includes accommodation, meals, orientation, in-country support, and some activities. Flights, visas, vaccinations, insurance, and personal expenses are not included.
