Volunteering Solutions Turtles, Wildlife & Permaculture Volunteer Experience

Volunteer in one of Costa Rica’s most biodiverse coastal regions while contributing to sea turtle protection, wildlife conservation, reforestation, and sustainable permaculture. Based in Playa Ario on the Nicoya Peninsula, this hands-on programme combines practical environmental work with communal living in a remote natural setting.

Participants support a range of seasonal and year-round activities, including beach patrols, nest monitoring, hatchery work, habitat restoration, tree planting, composting, seed collection, wildlife monitoring, environmental education, and community initiatives. The experience is designed for volunteers who want meaningful fieldwork, with tasks guided by local conservation staff and adapted to weather, tides, and project priorities.

Volunteers stay in simple shared accommodation close to the project site and receive three daily meals, mostly vegetarian and prepared on-site. Airport pickup, an overnight stay in San José, and onward transfers to Playa Ario are included, along with orientation and ongoing support.
