Gain practical experience in a specific local-government service area and explore career paths through placements in areas including Libraries and Archives at the Lichfield Street Hub. Integrated Facilities Management placements run Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm, with a one-hour lunch break.

Walsall Council offers work experience placements that help participants find out more about the council working environment and explore the variety of careers within local government. The placements are designed to help people discover which career path may suit them, while gaining practical experience in a specific field that can support future career development.

Placements are available across different service areas, subject to availability. These include Integrated Facilities Management and Libraries and Archives at the Lichfield Street Hub. Children’s services are unable to offer placements because of confidentiality and DBS issues.

Some placements may be more limited than others, and the council notes that numbers of places are restricted.

To apply, complete the work experience request form and email it to the service area you are interested in. If you have one, you can also send an up-to-date CV. For Integrated Facilities Management, placements run Monday to Friday with working hours of 8am to 4pm and a one-hour lunch break.
