Waterloo: Real and Imagined is a one-day study event organised by the Waterloo Association that brings together a series of illustrated talks exploring the Battle of Waterloo and its cultural afterlives. The programme features sessions on Wellington's artillery, archival insights, the role of the drummer in the British army, artistic representations of Waterloo, Napoleon's observatory, and the making of the film Waterloo (1970).
The event is in person at the University of the West of England (Coldharbour Lane, Stoke Gifford BS16 1QY) and runs for approximately seven hours. It is open to Waterloo Association members, non-members, and students.
Speakers include Gareth Glover, Martin Aaron, Matt Yuill, David Rowlandson, Tony Hodge and Simon Lewis. Practical information: tickets are sold via Eventbrite and the event has a no-refunds policy. Attendees should check the Eventbrite page for ticketing and any additional venue information.
