West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust recruits volunteers across its sites in Watford, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Abbots Langley. Volunteers support patients and staff in a wide variety of non-clinical roles including making refreshments, befriending patients, mealtime assistance, dementia companionship and other support roles.
The Trust emphasises inclusivity and currently has volunteers aged from 16 to 92, speaking many languages and from diverse backgrounds. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. To apply you must complete a volunteer application pack; the Trust will check references and carry out a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for successful applicants.
Mandatory training is required before starting, and roles are allocated based on experience, availability and where the Trust can best match volunteers to suitable duties. There is no fixed time commitment - volunteers are asked to give what they can.
For questions or to request an application pack, contact the volunteer team by email at westherts. volunteers@nhs. net or by phone on 01923 217307.
The Trust encourages anyone interested to get in touch to discuss available roles and suitability.
