Spend five days exploring local government through interactive workshops, talks and activities, while meeting people across council services. Build your communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills, with the placement based mainly at West Suffolk House in Bury St Edmunds.
West Suffolk Council is offering a five-day work experience week for Year 10 students who want to learn more about local government and the range of careers available within the council. The programme is designed to give students a meaningful introduction to how the council works and how its services support the community.
Participants will take part in interactive workshops, talks, activities and opportunities to meet people working across the council. The week is also intended to help students understand the skills and behaviours needed in the world of work, including communication, teamwork, problem solving and self-confidence.
It aims to help students connect their current studies with possible future career pathways.
The placement is primarily based at West Suffolk House in Bury St Edmunds. There are a maximum of 12 placements available, and applicants who do not meet the criteria may still contact the council to express interest in other work experience opportunities.
