Curious how media can change lives worldwide? Join a four-week FutureLearn MOOC from UEA to explore real case studies, build skills in analysis and campaigning, connect with academics and practitioners, and boost your university or career-ready portfolio.

This is an introductory four-week online course that explores how media and communication shape ideas, debates and practice in global development. Through case studies (including work in Nairobi) you will examine media representations of development, participatory and community media, public media and the role of social media in campaigns, and how media can address poverty and inequality.

Learners will be taught by academics and practitioners from the University of East Anglia and the Public Media Alliance, and the course includes videos, articles and practical activities designed for around 2 hours of study per week. The programme is accredited by the CPD Certification Service and offers a digital certificate when eligibility requirements are met.

The course is suitable for anyone considering studying or working in global development or media. It is self-paced and available online via FutureLearn with options for free limited access, a one-off purchase for full access, or an annual subscription.
