Fancy turning your love of the outdoors into action? Join Wilderness Youth Voice to explore ancient woodland, learn wildlife skills like bird‑ringing and bat monitoring, meet peers, build confidence and take real environmental action.

Wilderness Youth Voice is a nature-focused programme from the Wilderness Foundation that invites young people to explore the outdoors, connect with local wildlife, and take action for the environment. It is designed for young people who want to meet others with similar interests, build confidence, and spend time learning in a natural setting.

The youth events element runs throughout the year at Mann Wood, the Foundation’s ancient woodland. Activities can include bird ringing demonstrations, bat walks, pond dipping, wildlife photography, and astronomy, giving participants a chance to discover more about nature in a hands-on way.

These events are aimed at young people from Year 5 upwards and under 18, and tickets are £5. There is also a volunteering strand for 14-18 year olds. These school-holiday volunteering days take place every Friday in the holidays and involve practical conservation work such as biodiversity surveys, collecting tree data, maintaining paths, and managing vegetation.

They offer a free way to gain real experience while helping to care for the woodland and its wildlife.
