Walk The Devil’s Spittleful, chat with visitors and share information about local wildlife while encouraging responsible visits. You’ll also record visitor numbers, help keep site messages clear and may occasionally pick up litter.
Volunteer nature reserve engagement wardens help Worcestershire Wildlife Trust act as eyes on the ground at one of five Worcestershire reserves: The Devil's Spittleful, Tiddesley Wood, Chaddesley Woods, Piper's Hill & Dodderhill Commons or The Knapp and Papermill. The role involves regular visits to the reserve to support understanding of how visitors use the site, while helping the Trust strengthen its connection with the public and promote responsible enjoyment of the area.
Typical activities include walking through the nature reserve, talking to visitors, sharing information about the wildlife and the reserve's management, and encouraging people to stay on paths and keep dogs on leads. Volunteers also collect observational data such as visitor numbers, support clear site messaging, and may do occasional litter picking.
Extra responsibilities can be added over time as confidence grows.
The Trust is looking for people who are friendly, approachable and happy to get involved in a range of tasks. A basic level of fitness is needed, and you do not need extensive wildlife knowledge because support and learning are provided.
Volunteers are asked to commit to visiting at least once a week, with days and times arranged to suit them, and weekends are especially important.
Sessions run weekly
Volunteer role; no participant fee.
