Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is looking for volunteers to join its practical conservation team at Feckenham Wylde Moor, a wetland nature reserve on the edge of Feckenham village near Redditch. The role supports the management of a valuable local reserve and helps maintain its special features for the future.
Volunteers get involved in hands-on conservation work such as pond clearance, coppicing, pollarding, fencing and scrub cutting. In summer, the focus shifts to survey work and footpath maintenance. The role suits people who enjoy outdoor activity, want to learn more about habitat management, and like being part of a team helping local wildlife.
The Trust says the role is suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness and a willingness to work in all weathers. Training is provided for basic hand-tool use, and volunteers should be ready to help with different tasks as directed.
It is a practical way to support conservation, gain experience and spend time outdoors in a nature-rich setting.
The Trust runs the same practical conservation work parties at other Worcestershire reserves too: Gwen Finch Wetland Reserve near Birlingham (second Monday of the month), Windmill Hill near Evesham (first Wednesday of the month) and Chaddesley Woods near Bromsgrove (Thursdays, September to March).
Fortnightly on Wednesdays; summer sessions on the second Wednesday
Free to take part.
