Clear scrub, coppice, pollard and help repair fencing on a heathland nature reserve near Bewdley. Work outdoors in all weathers, with training provided where needed; sessions run one morning a month, from 10am to 3pm.
Practical conservation volunteers help Worcestershire Wildlife Trust manage The Devil's Spittleful, a beautiful heathland near Bewdley, Stourport and Kidderminster. The role supports the care and restoration of this important nature reserve, helping to maintain the site’s special features for the future.
Volunteer tasks can include scrub clearance, coppicing, pollarding and fencing. The work is hands-on and outdoors, so it suits people who are happy working in all weathers, can use basic hand tools, and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Training is provided where needed.
Volunteering takes place one morning each month, usually on the fourth Friday, from 10am to 3pm. Meeting points can vary depending on the task, but the group often parks at Blackstone car park and picnic site.
The role offers a chance to learn about habitat management, see local wildlife, and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors.
