Get hands-on managing an ancient woodland, from coppicing and clearing scrub to caring for vegetation around the pond. Learn practical habitat management skills with hand-tool training, while helping create habitats for butterflies, birds and other wildlife.
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is looking for volunteers to join its practical conservation team at Trench Wood nature reserve near Droitwich Spa. The role supports the management of a valuable ancient woodland, helping to protect its special features and improve the site for wildlife now and in the future.
Volunteers take part in hands-on conservation work such as coppicing, scrub clearance and looking after vegetation around the pond. These tasks help create and maintain habitats for butterflies, birds and other wildlife, while supporting the wider conservation work of the Trust across the county.
The opportunity is suited to people who enjoy the outdoors and want to learn practical habitat management skills. Training is provided for the use of hand tools, and volunteers can get involved whether they prefer working independently or as part of a team.
Sessions run regularly throughout the year and are a good fit for anyone with a basic level of fitness and a willingness to help in all weather conditions.
Sessions run weekly on Thursdays all year round, plus the fourth Sunday of the month from September to March
Free volunteering opportunity.
