This is a full-day A-level Chemistry revision workshop focused on Year 13 (A2) content for current UK specifications. The workshop runs from 09:00 to 15:00 and includes two main interactive revision sessions separated by a one-hour lunch break.
Sessions cover key topic summaries and typical student misconceptions followed by on-screen questions answered using electronic voting handsets provided at the venue. Topics covered include Organic Chemistry (aromatics, carbonyl compounds, amines, spectroscopy), Physical Chemistry (pH, rates, equilibria, Born-Haber cycles, entropy & free energy, electrode potentials) and Further Inorganic Chemistry (redox).
Each student receives an Abstracts booklet at the workshop and will be emailed a comprehensive Revision Notes booklet after the event. Attendees are expected to bring pen, writing paper and a scientific calculator.
The workshop is delivered by Dr Peter Hoare, a STEM outreach officer at a Russell Group university and former secondary school chemistry teacher and A-level marker. The event takes place in a small village near Launceston and is aimed at Year 13 students preparing for their A-level examinations.
