Want to master proofs? Join UCL’s free five-day Year 12 Maths Summer School 13–17 July to explore logic, build rigorous proof skills, connect with academics and strengthen your uni maths application — apply by 2 June.
Join UCL’s Mathematics department for a free, five-day, non-residential summer school focused on logic and proof for current Year 12 students. The programme runs from 13 to 17 July 2026 and offers academic sessions that build from interpreting and creating logical statements to constructing rigorous mathematical proofs.
The course covers logical operators and truth tables, conditionals (if/only if), converses and contrapositives, necessary and sufficient conditions, quantifiers, various proof techniques, and identifying logical errors in deductions. Participants will also gain insight into student life and the university application process with sessions on student finance, repayments, and how to write and structure a personal statement.
The summer school is particularly useful for students considering courses that require the TMUA admissions test. Places are allocated using shortlisting criteria to prioritise students from underrepresented groups at UCL.
Attendance is free. Food is provided and travel costs to/from campus will be funded for eligible students per UCL's travel policy. Applicants must complete the online sign-up form (a parent or guardian must be present to complete the form).
Successful applicants will be notified after the application deadline.
