Spend a week discovering how a major theatre runs, through workshops with Box Office, Producing, Marketing and Engagement teams and experience in backstage roles. Explore creative careers and how departments work together; successful applicants are interviewed before places are awarded.

Closes 18 December 2026

Bristol Old Vic’s Year 12 work experience placement offers sixth form students a week-long introduction to theatre life. The placement is limited to up to 20 school students and is intended to give a meaningful insight into the range of work that keeps a major theatre running.

Students take part in workshops delivered by teams such as Box Office, Producing, Marketing and Engagement, and they also gain experience in backstage roles. The programme is a chance to meet other young people with an interest in theatre, explore creative careers, and see how different departments work together in a professional arts organisation.

Successful applicants are invited to interview before places are awarded.
