Take on hands-on conservation and reserve-management tasks at a freshwater marsh on the North Yorkshire coast, helping support plants, small mammals, amphibians and migratory birds. Tools and gloves are provided.
Join Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for a practical conservation task day at Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a freshwater marsh on the North Yorkshire coast. Volunteers help with outdoor conservation and reserve management tasks that support the habitat for plants, small mammals, amphibians and migratory birds.
It is a hands-on opportunity for anyone who wants to contribute to wildlife conservation and gain experience of practical reserve work in a natural setting.
Task days usually run monthly on a Wednesday and begin at 10am, finishing around 4pm. Booking is preferred, and new volunteers must provide emergency contact details and relevant medical information before they start.
Bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink, hard-wearing shoes or boots, old clothes, and weather-appropriate clothing such as waterproofs or sun protection. Tools and gloves are provided. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, while 16- and 17-year-olds can volunteer independently with parental consent.
Monthly task day (first Wednesday of every month)
Free to volunteer.
