Apply NowWant to test-drive life as a computer scientist? Join InvestIN’s Young Computer Scientist Weekend to code in HTML/CSS/JS, explore back-end and databases, design UX, build practical projects and connect with software engineers to boost skills, experience and your uni or career prospects.
The Young Computer Scientist Weekend gives students aged 15-18 a chance to test-drive life working in the world of tech. Professional computer scientists coach participants through interactive activities including a coding masterclass, front-end development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, back-end concepts and relational databases, and user-experience design.
The programme also includes Q&A panels with software engineers and practical sessions to build teamwork, problem-solving and portfolio pieces.
The full-day timetable runs from around 11:00 to 17:30 and covers career-focused sessions such as "The World of Computer Science", user experience, front-end and back-end development, and a closing panel Q&A. You can attend either in-person in London (venue: University College London, Bloomsbury) or live online, with the same content and a personalised certificate provided after completing the online assessment.
