The Young Computer Scientist Weekend

The Young Computer Scientist Weekend gives students aged 15-18 a chance to test-drive life working in the world of tech. Professional computer scientists coach participants through interactive activities including a coding masterclass, front-end development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, back-end concepts and relational databases, and user-experience design.

The programme also includes Q&A panels with software engineers and practical sessions to build teamwork, problem-solving and portfolio pieces. The full-day timetable runs from around 11:00 to 17:30 and covers career-focused sessions such as "The World of Computer Science", user experience, front-end and back-end development, and a closing panel Q&A.

You can attend either in-person in London (venue: University College London, Bloomsbury) or live online, with the same content and a personalised certificate provided after completing the online assessment. There is no formal application process; places are secured by registering and paying on the InvestIN website and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
