Want to inspire the next generation of medics? Recommend Debate Chamber’s two-day Young Doctors Summer School - hands-on diagnostics, cardiology, imaging and patient communication. Help younger students explore medicine and build real skills.

The Young Doctors Summer School is a two-day, in-person introduction to medicine for students aged 11-14 run by Debate Chamber. The course blends short academic seminars with interactive, hands-on activities and case-study scenarios where students act as practitioners diagnosing and recommending treatment.

Sessions cover core topics such as cardiology, imaging (x-rays), brain and lung conditions, medical history-taking and patient communication, and include practical components designed to give a realistic taste of medical study.

Taught by medical-student tutors, the course runs 10:30-16:30 each day (lunch 12:30-13:30) and is non-residential. It is held at Woburn House, Bloomsbury, Central London, and is designed to give young people insight into life as a junior doctor and whether a career in medicine might suit them.

Parents/guardians should note that parental supervision is required during the lunch break unless a signed permission slip is provided.

Booking requires a 25% non-refundable deposit with the remaining balance due eight weeks before the course. Debate Chamber offers a limited number of full and partial bursaries for students who could not otherwise afford to attend; bursary applications open in January 2026 and awards can cover up to 90% of fees.
