The Young Engineer Summer Experience

The Young Engineer Summer Experience is a hands-on summer school in London run by InvestIN Education, designed for students aged 15-18 (Years 10-12). Over immersive career simulations and professional site visits, participants experience mechanical, civil, materials, aerospace, electrical and biomedical engineering in practical sessions led by industry engineers.

Activities include aerofoil design and wind-tunnel testing with Rolls-Royce engineers, a Boeing experience at an airfield, supercar studio visits and hands-on tasks such as taking apart a petrol engine and building structural models.

Choose from one-week, two-week or two-week Premium packages with residential (UCL / University of London halls) or non-residential options. Residential students receive meals, guardianship, evening/weekend activities and can add airport transfers.

Students complete a post-programme assessment to receive a personalised digital certificate; 2-week attendees receive a physical certificate and an industry reference letter. The programme includes career coaching, UCAS/subject-choice advice and networking sessions with senior engineers to support university applications and future careers.

Sessions are delivered in-person at University College London and other industry locations across London. No prior knowledge is required; places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. International students must meet the B2 English requirement.
