Young Forensic Scientist Summer Experience

The Young Forensic Scientist Summer Experience is an immersive on-campus programme based at University College London and the surrounding University of London campus. Designed for students aged 15 6, the course combines interactive workshops, real-life case simulations and hands-on laboratory sessions.

Participants practise crime-scene skills including evidence recovery, fingerprinting, blood spatter analysis, DNA extraction, toxicology and cyber-forensics, and attend networking sessions with senior forensic scientists.

Students may choose a one-week taster, a two-week full programme, or a two-week premium option with additional professional hours. The programme includes courtroom simulation exercises where students deliver expert witness testimony, plus career coaching on subject choices, university applications and competitive career pathways.

Work is assessed and successful students receive a Level 3 Award in Work Experience and Career Planning and a personalised certificate and industry reference letter.

The experience offers residential accommodation in UCL halls for those who select that option, with meals and guardianship provided. Certain days take place at other industry locations in London, and optional airport transfers are available at checkout.
