The Young Investment Banker Summer Experience is a 1-2 week UCAS-accredited summer school for students aged 15 18. Participants engage in hands-on finance activities including live trading simulations on the London stock market, a mock M&A deal, portfolio-building and feedback from asset managers, and quant finance sessions that include practical Python applications.
The programme pairs practical exercises with panel Q&A sessions and networking with senior investment bankers.
Students receive career coaching covering CVs, applications, interview practice and networking skills, and take part in assessment-centre style activities used by leading investment banks. Completion includes an online assessment, a personalised certificate and an industry reference letter.
The course awards a Level 3 Award in Work Experience and Career Planning (8 UCAS points) on successful completion.
Options include a First-Week taster, Two-Week Experience, and Two-Week Premium (additional professional hours and events). Residential and non-residential places are offered; residential students stay in UCL / University of London halls with single en-suite rooms, meals, guardianship and social activities provided.
The programme is based at UCL and surrounding University of London campuses, with some industry days in other London locations.
