The Young Lawyer Summer Experience is a hands-on summer programme for students aged 15-18, based at University College London and the surrounding University of London campus. Participants shadow practising solicitors and barristers, take part in mock trials and real-life case simulations, and explore areas such as criminal justice, corporate law, family law and human rights.
The programme offers a range of practical activities including a simulated murder trial, a Supreme Court human rights simulation, corporate negotiation exercises, public law workshops and an international treaty negotiation. Students receive public speaking coaching, feedback from legal professionals, and networking opportunities with senior lawyers from top global firms.
Options include a first-week taster, a full two-week programme, or a two-week premium experience with extra hours and enhanced benefits. On completion, participants can gain a Level 3 Award in Work Experience and Career Planning (worth 8 UCAS points), a personalised certificate and an industry reference letter.
Residential accommodation in UCL halls (single en-suite rooms) is available, with meals and pastoral care included.
