Ready to build real wildlife skills and boost your CV? Join Young Naturalists at Blashford Lakes — monthly hands-on sessions (bat walks, birding, pond‑dipping) to explore, record and connect with conservation networks.

Young Naturalists sessions at Blashford Lakes are aimed at 13-17 year olds who enjoy wildlife and the outdoors. Meetings take place on the last Sunday of each month and each session has a different seasonal focus.

Activities are practical and vary by session and have previously included bat walks, bird watching, learning about fungi, pond dipping and river dipping, with occasional offsite visits to other reserves. Booking is essential and new attendees must return a parental/guardian consent form in advance (call or email to obtain these).

Each session runs from 10:00 to 14:30 and costs £5 per session. The sessions are accessible by public transport (the X3 bus stops at the end of Ellingham Drove) and are suitable for wheelchair/mobility-aid users.

Adult supervision is not required. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is listed as a collaborating organisation on the page.
