Work from a real-life brief with a creative team and other young people, exploring behind-the-scenes roles as you shape and deliver a family-friendly event by week’s end.
Z-arts’ Takeover Z programme offers Year 10 students a hands-on work experience placement that goes beyond simple observation. Participants are welcomed into the organisation as active contributors, working closely with the Z-arts Creative Team and other young people to shape a project from the ground up.
Over the course of the placement, students are given a real-life brief and collaborate to design and deliver a family-friendly event by the end of the week. Along the way, they explore behind-the-scenes roles at Z-arts, meet members of the team, and learn how creative organisations operate in practice.
The experience is fast-paced, varied and centred on learning by doing.
The programme is designed to give young people ownership, confidence and a genuine sense of responsibility. It is especially suited to students interested in the arts, including those who already have a connection to Z-arts through previous workshops and activities, and who want to develop skills, insight and ideas for future creative pathways.
