Ready to raise your orchestral game? Join Chetham's Summer School orchestral course to sharpen solo skills, master section playing and rehearse with expert faculty. Build confidence, teamwork and performance-ready repertoire while playing alongside peers and tutors.

Chetham's Orchestral Course is part of Chetham's Summer School and is designed for young instrumentalists aged 11-17 who are playing at an intermediate to advanced level. The course focuses on all aspects of orchestral performance and is open to orchestral instruments, with guitars and saxophones excluded.

Participants develop their individual playing while also learning how to perform as part of a section in small groups led by Chetham's faculty. The course also includes opportunities to work alongside students on the piano and vocal pathways in wider summer-school activities, helping musicians grow as confident, well-rounded performers.

The programme offers both residential and non-residential options and does not require auditions. Applicants are asked to provide details of their instrument, standard of playing, recent repertoire, and any support needs when completing the online application form.

Bursary and financial support information is available during the application process.
