Chetham's School of Music

Improvise in small groups, join jam sessions and explore jazz with guest tutors, building your ensemble skills in a supportive setting. The course welcomes instrumentalists and vocalists, and ends with a performance in Carole Nash Hall.

Develop your individual orchestral playing and learn to perform as part of a section in small groups led by course faculty. Join wider activities alongside piano and vocal students; no audition is required, and applications ask for your recent repertoire.

Get a high-quality video recording of your piano playing in Stoller Hall while building your musicianship through one-to-one lessons, sight-reading, ensemble playing and jazz improvisation. You’ll also perform across Chetham’s venues and explore ways to manage stage fright, avoid injury and improve posture.

Join a week-long music programme with technique classes, ensemble rehearsals and creative workshops across orchestral, piano, singing and performance, or jazz and improvisation courses. Learn from professional musicians, practise in specialist facilities and perform in a final concert at Stoller Hall.
