Make weekly calls to a registered carer as part of a telephone befriending service for unpaid carers. Offer a listening ear, friendly conversation and practical encouragement from your own home, with phone numbers hidden from both sides. Training and ongoing support are provided.
CHAT line is a telephone befriending and support service for unpaid carers. As a volunteer, you will be matched with a registered carer and make weekly calls to offer a listening ear, friendly conversation and practical encouragement.
The role may involve helping someone talk through a problem, keeping them company, or simply having an informal chat to help reduce isolation.
The volunteering takes place from the comfort of your own home, and there is a system in place so that neither you nor the carer can see each other’s phone numbers. The service is designed to provide regular social contact and emotional support, making a positive difference to carers’ health and wellbeing.
This role is suitable for under 18s and people from all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers should be reliable, punctual, non-judgemental and comfortable speaking with people from different backgrounds. Training, ongoing support and insurance are provided, and a DBS check is required, which the organisation will pay for.
Sessions run weekly
We will pay for a current DBS.
No costs to you.
