Met Office Careers - Forecasting Your Future is a virtual work experience programme that introduces students to the wide range of careers available at the Met Office. It is designed to help participants explore potential pathways into a future career while developing transferable employability skills and a clearer sense of where their interests and strengths might fit. The programme includes interactive modules, quizzes and activities covering the Met Office’s history, strategy, values, sustainability, and equality, diversity and inclusion. Participants also explore science, engineering, forecasting, technology, cyber security, data science, corporate services and customer/stakeholder management, while hearing from Met Office employees along the way. The experience also supports job applications and CV writing, and finishing the programme unlocks a certificate of completion as well as the chance to apply for in-person work experience with the Met Office.

Join Springpod’s virtual work experience programme, created with JLL and Meta, to explore the world of real estate and the many careers connected to it. The programme introduces the property lifecycle and the myths and realities of the sector, while also showing how data, sustainability, transaction management, project management, entrepreneurship and facilities management all fit into the wider industry. Learners take part in a mix of written, interactive and video-based activities, including quizzes, reflection tasks and a Minecraft design project. The experience also includes insights from real estate professionals through the programme’s Life In series and live webinar-style content, helping participants understand what jobs in the sector involve day to day. The Doctor Summer Experience is an immersive medicine work experience programme for aspiring doctors aged 15-18. Students take part in realistic medical simulations and professional site visits that bring together clinical reasoning, patient communication, basic procedures and teamwork. Activities include simulated ward rounds, diagnosing patients from case notes and test results, taking blood, suturing wounds, handling emergencies and learning how doctors make decisions in fast-paced environments. The programme is based at University College London and the surrounding University of London campus, with some days taking place at other key London healthcare locations. Students are guided by real doctors and medical professionals, and they also receive support with medical school preparation, including UCAS personal statements, interview practice and UCAT guidance. Blue Stamp Travel’s Work Experience Abroad programme in Lille gives students the chance to use French in a real working environment while living and travelling independently in a supported group setting. The trip is designed for older school students who want to build confidence, improve fluency, and experience everyday French life beyond the classroom. Participants spend the week on full-time placements in local businesses, schools, and organisations across Lille. The placement is matched to each student’s preferences, experience, and future plans, and the programme is supported by an experienced Group Leader who visits placements and helps with any difficulties that arise. Students also gain a practical understanding of workplace expectations, professional conduct, and intercultural communication. The package includes homestay accommodation with local hosts, half-board meals, travel support, and a certificate at the end of the trip. Students travel by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Lille, with detailed travel guidance provided. An alternative departure is also offered later in the year, and bookings open in August 2026.

Rothschild & Co’s UK Horizon Women’s Work Experience Programme is a short summer experience designed for Year 13 female students who are interested in a career in financial advisory. Based in London, the programme is centred on the firm’s Global Advisory division and offers an introduction to areas such as M&A, debt and restructuring, and equity advisory. Participants get a practical insight into life as a banker at Rothschild & Co through a mix of networking, presentations, and skills sessions. Students meet junior bankers from Global Advisory, Wealth Management and Five Arrows, hear from analysts across different business areas, and work in groups on a project that they present at the end of the programme. The programme also includes a tour of Rothschild & Co’s historical archives, helping students understand the firm’s long history and unique business model. By the end of the experience, participants are encouraged to continue exploring a future in financial advisory, and those interested may be offered a stay-in-touch programme.

BAE Systems Submarines is offering a business-focused work experience programme at its Submarines Academy for Skills and Knowledge in Barrow-in-Furness. The placement is designed to give young people an introduction to the business side of a major employer, with insight into how the business function operates and the kinds of careers available within it. Participants will take part in a mix of employability workshops, practical activities, university talks, and a mock interview. They will also have the chance to speak with current staff and apprentices, helping them explore possible career paths and understand what working in a large organisation can involve. The programme is aimed at students in sixth form who meet the academic entry requirements, including GCSEs and UCAS Tariff Points. It is a structured in-person experience for those looking to build confidence, develop workplace skills, and gain a clearer picture of business-related careers.

Springpod’s Broadcast & Media virtual work experience introduces students to the fast-moving world of broadcast, media and journalism. The programme is designed to help participants understand the types of roles available, the key concepts behind the industry, and the skills needed to get started in a creative media career. Learners take part in a series of workplace-style projects and interactive activities covering television, radio, print media and digital media. They can explore how stories are created and presented across different platforms, while also hearing from industry experts and building a downloadable portfolio of their work. The programme is fully virtual and self-paced, with live talks available as recordings, making it flexible to complete alongside school or college.

Martin-Baker offers two related early-careers opportunities: Summer Placements aimed at students studying towards a relevant degree, and a 4-day Work Experience Programme in Engineering & Manufacturing for local school students. Summer placements are 8-12 week opportunities designed to provide hands-on experience within engineering teams; availability is ad hoc and cannot be guaranteed every year.

The Work Experience Programme is a structured 4-day placement at Martin-Baker's Denham site, delivered up to three times a year and typically scheduled within half-term or school holiday periods. Spaces are limited and the programme is intended to improve access to meaningful placements for local schools and students.

Study Mind’s Law Summer Career Camp is a hands-on programme for students aged 15-18 who want to explore careers in law. It combines legal theory with practical experience through mock trials, legal workshops, debates, courtroom simulations, and case analysis. Students also gain exposure to different legal specialisms and meet practising professionals, including solicitors, barristers, and legal academics. Alongside the legal learning, the programme includes university and career preparation. Participants receive support with UCAS applications, personal statements, LNAT preparation, and interview techniques, helping them build confidence about law degrees and future legal pathways. The camp is designed for beginners as well as students who already have some interest in the subject. The experience is delivered in central London and can run for one, two, or three weeks. Students may also choose residential accommodation at UCL’s Ramsay Hall, with meals, supervision, and activities included for residential participants. Everyone receives a certificate on completion, recognising their participation and the skills developed during the programme.

Duncan & Toplis offers short in-person work experience placements designed to give students an introductory insight into a career in accountancy. Placements typically last a week or two and pair participants with experienced mentors so they can learn about accountancy, tax and business advisory work while contributing to real projects and developing practical skills.

During the placement students spend time at one of the firm's offices across the UK, work on hands-on tasks, and network with trainees, colleagues and other work-experience students. The programme emphasises meaningful learning rather than menial tasks, helping participants build contacts, gain practical experience for future applications, and understand potential career pathways in accounting and finance.

Participants may be better placed to apply for Duncan & Toplis early-career roles after completing a placement. The firm operates multiple locations (see application instructions) and aims to match students with mentors aligned to their interests. The programme is presented as inclusive of applicants regardless of gender, disability status or economic background.

Step into the world of accounting and finance with the AAT Virtual Work Experience hosted on Springpod. This remote, self-paced programme introduces the accounting profession, bookkeeping and core financial principles through expert-led Springpod Sessions, interactive activities and short quizzes. You will hear from industry practitioners and learn about the routes into accounting, including AAT qualifications and apprenticeships.

This programme is delivered remotely and is suitable for young people from age 13 upwards (students in school/college are the main audience). It runs on demand; learners can sign up via the Springpod programme page and access materials and recordings at their convenience.

This is an on-demand virtual insight programme from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) designed to introduce participants to accountancy and related careers. The programme includes sector overviews, trends, and career pathway mapping, plus pre-recorded webinars with professionals discussing apprenticeship routes, graduate opportunities (including the ACA), and alternative entry routes into the industry. Participants will complete quizzes, activities and an immersive project where they act as an accountant advising a client.

This is a virtual work experience programme run in partnership between Springpod and BDO that introduces participants to accountancy and advisory services. The programme includes sector overviews, career-path information, expert talks and recorded webinars, interactive exercises, quizzes and real-life scenario work to build understanding of audit, advisory and tax functions.

Participants will explore compliance, risk, tax research and advisory problem-solving through practical tasks and case-style activities. The programme highlights different entry routes into BDO including apprenticeships and internships and aims to develop employability skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving. Live webinars are scheduled during weekday hours and recorded for later access.

On completion participants receive a downloadable certificate. The course is described as self-paced "on demand" content, with additional live elements; Springpod provides confirmation and feedback emails and reviews assignments as part of the completion process.

This is a remote virtual work experience programme run by Liberata that gives students a behind-the-scenes view of how a professional services business designs and delivers services to clients. The programme includes modular content covering the business lifecycle from winning contracts to long-term service delivery, and highlights a range of career paths across commercial, operational, HR and technology teams. The course contains quizzes, interactive activities and recorded webinars, and participants receive a certificate on completion.

Modules explore commercial roles and contract work, operational functions that keep services running, HR responsibilities from recruitment to payroll, and the role of technology, automation and ServiceTech in modern service delivery. The programme emphasises employability skills — teamwork, communication and problem-solving — and includes activities and expert videos to help students reflect on strengths and next steps.

Ignite is a four-day, in-person work experience programme at Grant Thornton’s Manchester office that gives Year 12 and 13 students (as of September 2026) a practical introduction to accountancy and business. Over Monday 17 to Thursday 20 August 2026 participants will work on real projects alongside Audit teams, take part in focused development sessions to build professional skills, and complete hands-on group activities designed to improve teamwork and problem-solving. The programme is intended to give a realistic feel for life in accountancy and to expose students to potential career paths within the firm.

The programme is aimed at students interested in progressing directly into a school leaver programme after finishing school; strong performers may fast-track onto Grant Thornton’s school leaver routes. No prior work experience is required, but full attendance for the entire four days is mandatory. Applicants should consider commuting distance when choosing the office they apply to, as this intake is in-person and based at the Manchester office.

The application process is quick and structured: complete the online application form, then an online assessment (usually under five minutes), followed by a written case study. Applicants are encouraged to visit the Employability Hub for tips on preparing and standing out during each stage.

Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst runs a wider outreach programme that supports the local community through diversity and inclusion events, STEM support, mentoring, and campus tours and Q&A sessions with scientists and staff. Within that outreach offer, the page highlights a dedicated work experience opportunity for students interested in science and innovation. Applications are open for the 2027 Work Experience Week, a five-day placement held each July for two Year 12 or Year 13 students. The placement gives participants the chance to gain experience with a range of innovative life sciences companies based at Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst. Places are awarded through a recruitment process, with applicants asked to submit a CV and covering letter and shortlisted candidates invited to interview.

This in-person work experience programme from Lloyds Banking Group is designed for Year 13 students who are preparing to apply for early careers roles, including opportunities opening in September 2027 and beyond. It takes place in Bristol and gives students a chance to build confidence, understand employer expectations, and learn how to present themselves well at the start of the recruitment process. Across the two sessions, students will explore two key stages of applying for jobs: the application process and the assessment centre. The first session focuses on what to include in an application and how to stand out, while the second session explains how assessment centres work, what assessors look for, and offers practice and advice on performing well. Participants will also learn more about Lloyds Banking Group as a business, meet employees, and discover the range of career pathways available across areas such as Audit, Data Analyst, Customer Services, Finance, Risk and HR. The event is especially useful for students interested in banking, finance or tech careers who want to get ahead before applying to future opportunities.

Join Lloyds Banking Group for a live virtual work experience challenge where students step into the role of a festival food-truck entrepreneur. Working through a realistic business scenario, attendees design a food concept, choose a festival pitch location, test pricing and profit, and think through how to build a successful small business. The session is team-based and hands-on, with practical GCSE Business skills at its core. Participants will explore customers, costs, risk, workflow, staffing, and pitching, while also using AI as a thinking tool to test ideas and make decisions. The experience finishes with a short 2-minute pitch and feedback, helping students build confidence, commercial awareness, and teamwork. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to join in. The event is delivered live online with breakout activities, and attendees should have a laptop and internet access. After the session, students will receive practical resources and links to further opportunities via Lloyds Banking Group’s Faster Forward hub.

Expert Wealth Management offers structured work experience placements designed to introduce sixth form students to the world of financial planning. The programme is aimed at students who are interested in finance, business, economics, or related subjects and want to learn more about careers in the sector. Students can expect a mix of practical and observational experience, including administrative tasks, research projects, insight sessions, team meetings, training sessions, and opportunities to see how different parts of the business work together. The placement also includes guidance and mentoring from experienced professionals who want to support the next generation. The programme is intended to build confidence, professional skills, and career awareness, giving participants a clearer understanding of the workplace and the role financial planners play in helping clients. Placements take place at Expert Wealth Management’s office in High Cogges, Witney, and are available during school breaks, including Easter and summer holidays.
