Opportunities from The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
League of Friends volunteers
Support four charity shops across the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site, bringing patients and visitors a friendly face while helping raise money for equipment that benefits patients and the Trust. Give some time to your local hospital community and contribute to the charity’s fundraising work.
Admin Support Volunteers
Help hospital teams run smoothly with essential, non-clinical support that contributes to patient care. Volunteer across Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital, giving departments practical help with everyday support.
Patient Support Volunteers
Give hospital patients companionship, reassurance and practical, non-clinical support during their stay. Work alongside ward staff, patients and carers to help make each hospital experience more comfortable. Roles are available across Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, with full training and support provided.
Meet and Greet volunteers
Welcome patients and visitors, give directions and answer general queries as a volunteer first point of contact. You can do this at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital in Telford or Hollinswood House’s Community Diagnostic Centre.
Volunteer to Career Programme
Complete at least 50 hours of NHS volunteering and attend five evening training sessions, with placements at either the Shrewsbury or Telford hospital site. Build your understanding of NHS careers through an in-house training course offering skills, knowledge and support.
Volunteer Buggy Driver Role
Drive a buggy along a designated route between the Treatment Centre and Outpatient Clinics, helping patients get to appointments at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. You’ll offer practical support and reassurance as part of a hands-on NHS volunteering role, with full training provided.
