Opportunities from Northumberland Wildlife Trust
Northumberland Wildlife Trust Information Assistant
Welcome visitors at Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre, answering questions, sharing reserve information and helping people follow site rules. You’ll work alongside staff and volunteers, support occasional walks and talks, and can sign up for half-day shifts.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust Community and Events Assistant
Help promote wildlife and conservation at public events and fairs, speaking with visitors, guiding small groups and pitching in with crafts, merchandise or the tombola. Training is provided, and you can volunteer flexibly across weekdays, weekends, evenings and school holidays, with travel costs reimbursed.
Habitat Heroes: Urban Wildlife Habitat Workshop
Build practical wildlife habitats for invertebrates, birds and mammals, then explore pond life with a pond-dipping session. You'll also make natural cordage from nettles for a bracelet or necklace, with beginner-friendly guidance and supervision throughout.
Young Rangers in the Park: Leazes Park
Become a young ranger for the morning, helping manage habitats and keep Leazes Park’s paths clear for visitors. No experience is needed, and tools and protective equipment are provided.
Hauxley Wildlife Talks: Seal Rescue, Recovery and Release
Explore how seals are rescued, rehabilitated and released back into the wild through an illustrated talk at Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre. It’s free to attend, with a suggested £3 donation, and there’s a special café offer before the event.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust Young Rangers in the Park: Harbottle Park
Help care for Harbottle Park through practical woodland maintenance and conservation, working outdoors with a team. Cut back growth, keep visitor paths clear and tackle general park care; tools and PPE are provided, and no experience is needed.
